Hulu Review
About six months ago I signed up for a Hulu.com invitation and had really forgotten about the site until receiving my invite a little while ago and let me tell you I am impressed. First off I ![]()
guess I should tell you what Hulu is… Hulu is a joint development funded by NBC and News Corp (Fox, FX, etc). The goal was to create a site where content could be posted for both networks and ad revenue could be collected. This was in relation to NBC’s pulling out of the iTunes Music Store with their content and also trying to get ahead of CBS which had launched their online free streaming TV shows. I was a little leery about how viewable the content would be, it is just a flash encoded video after all. I mean who wants to watch TV shows in a small box on the website? I was surprised when logging into Hulu for the first time with the wide variety of content, not only new shows such as House, Family Guy, Chuck, and The Simpsons, but also older shows that I had not seen in forever like WKRP in Cincinnati and they even have the full season of Firefly. There is even a few movies provided by Universal and 20th Century Fox. It’s not all free you are subjected to 10 second commercials ever so often (far less than you would be subjected to watching it on TV). My only complaint is that the commercials are not seamlessly placed into the show as they would be at broadcast sometimes you’ll see a few seconds of a new scene before the commercial will kick in. Yeah I know this is a boring post but it’s been awhile so I had to post something..
